Team Connecticut Blue Jays South Time Line

 

September 2000:  CT Blue Jays are founded by Kevin Huber as his senior seminar project to earn his Bachelors Degree.

 

January 2001:  The Blue Jays hold their first open try out in Norwalk CT 100 + players tryout for 4 teams 13u, 14u, 15u, & 18

May 2001: The Blue Jays 13u team takes on the CT Dawgs for the programs first ever game.

June 2001: Paul Johnson hits the programs 1st ever Home Run a tape measure shot at Norwalk Community College.  The 14u team Quilifies for the Division 1 AAU National Tournament on the pitching of Mark Joseph and hitting of Jose Escobar Jr..

July 4th 2001: Seth Tilti pitches a no hitter for the Blue Jays

August 2001: The 13u team wins the National Classic Championship.  On strong performances by Brian Smith, Edmundo Arias, Joe Klein and Jake Cowan.

Labor Day 2001: The Blue Jays Win the Triple Crown Labor Day tournament on Long Island. Juan Serrano, Jose Escobar, Al Schor, and Mike Wiener named all tournament.

Fall 2001: The Blue Jays field 2 fall teams. 

December 2001: Blue Jays hold 1st early winter workout. Tyler Kavanaugh awarded 1st CT Blue Jays Team Player award.

January 2002: The Blue Jays have tryouts and decide to field 6 Teams 12u and 16u added.  Coach Patrick Hall takes on a day to day role and becomes the coach of the 18u program.

June 2002: the 18u program fields one of the best teams in the region with many future college players on the roster.  Notables include; Tim Henry (UVA) Mike Weiner (Fairfield U) Chris Fournier ( George Mason) Kevin Lorde (CCSU) Joe Pagan (SCSU) Juan Serrano (Norfolk State) Mike Pagan (Post U) Paul Kuba ( Manhatanville) TJ O'Leary ( Cortland State) Chris Winkler (Yale) Matt Marcinzyck (Kenyon) Sean Lawrence ( Stonehill).  Under Coach Hall and assistant Tyrone Kingwood the 18u team has an amazing summer winning the AABC state and regional Championships.

July 2002: After struggling through a tough summer the 13u team wins the Florida travel baseball World Championship.  12u team goes 37-7 team is led by Nick Fico, Matt Greco, and George Springer.

August 2002: The Blue Jays relocate to West Haven.

Fall 2002: Blue Jays field 3 fall teams

January 2003 Blue Jays tryouts held in West Haven.

June 2003: Blue Jays field 2 teams at the older levels 18u and 17u.  The 18u team is guided by Coach Hall with his assistant Dan Hodgson.  Both teams have great summers The 18u team advances through the AABC playoffs to loose in the super regional.  The 17u Team highlighted by the Play of Jon Weiss (Tulane)  Joe Ercolano (Lehigh) and Nick Erardi ( Johns Hopkins) places 10th at the AAU National Tournament.

August 2003: The 13u team has a strong showing at the national tournament key efforts turned in by Sean Curtis (Triple Crown State MVP) George Springer ( Triple Crown State Defensive MVP) Bobby Dunphy, Nick Neborak, Dan Evangelista & Victor Cruz.  15u team place 7th at the ECTB National. Coach Huber gets married two weeks later Coach Hall gets married.

Fall 2003: Talks begin with Team Connecticut Baseball about possible merge.

November 2003: Team Connecticut Baseball and the CT Blue Jays merge to form the Team Connecticut Blue Jays.  The merge alows the program to get the best players from the entire region.

Winter 2004: Tryouts held in Farmington, East Hartford and West Haven.

Summer 2004: 16u South team wins AAU State Tournament trailing by 5 with 2 outs in the 7th TCB sends 10 men to the plate and scores 6 runs capped by a Brian Smith 2 run triple.  Jake Cowan Pitched a 1,2,3 botttom half to cap the comeback win.  18u American Team places 5th at the BEST National tournament.  TCB Hartford 16's Place 2nd at the BEST 16u National.  14u south Team wins National Classic Championship George Springer named All American. The TCB Hartford 13's and 14's both finish top ten at the national tournament.

Fall 2004: TCB South Fields 3 fall teams Coach Hall hired at Fairfield University.

Winter 2005: Tryouts held in South Windsor, East Hartford, West Haven and Bridgeport.

Spring/Summer 2005: TCB South 13u team wins RYO 4th of July Tourney and The Cerbo World Series.  Great years are had by the entire team.  TCB South 15u Places 3rd at the AAU D II National.  George Springer, Chris Renzoni & Kevin Keys Named All American.  16u Team finishes 2nd at the Cerbo World Series.  14u team is led by Ralph Fidaleo and Pat Girard.  All Hartford area teams have great summers.  Both 18u teams Garner top 10 national finishes

Fall 2005: TCB South fields 3 fall teams.  Coach Huber hired at Fairfield University

Winter 2006: TCB tryouts held South Windsor, East Hartford, West Haven, University of Bridgeport, and The Batting Cage.

Spring /Summer 2006 TCB south 13's play in USSSA Major World Series in MD.  16's place 6th at the National tournament.  Mike Paloian, Nick Fico named All Americans.  15's come out of pool play as the #1 seed but loose three 1 run games in medal play.  14's play in AAU at disney's wide world of sports.  16's win the final tournament of the Season beeting the Bergen Bombers who won the National Championship.  The Blue Jays play and win 4 games on the final day.  Chris Renzoni threw a no hitter in the 2nd game puching out 17.  George Springer had key hits all day.  Joe Mercado closed out the final on the mound. 

Fall 2006 TCB South Fields 3 fall teams

Winter 2007 TCB has Try outs all over the State 2 teams are added at the older levels 17u Americans and 17u Nationals.
